Dave Chappelle Not Bothered By Being Cancelled, FYI

He actually welcomes it.

If you haven’t heard, Davis Chappelle has released his final comedy special this week on Netflix, The Closer. The day after came mixed reviews. A lot of people seemed to enjoy it. However, not everybody found the comedy appealing and of course, in true Dave form, he’a managed to fluster a few feathers.

Touching on everything from J.K. Rowling, Caitlyn Jenner, the #MeToo movement and LGBTQIA community, Dave’s humor brought the cancel community along with GLAAD and the National Black Justice Community (NBJC) to the forefront, ready to wage war. They found nothing funny, calling the special a “perpetuation of transphobia” and that his brand had become a parallel for ridiculing trans and marginalized people.

A trans writer whose credits appear alongside some of Netflix’s big name shows, Jaclyn Moore, is also boycotting Netflix until they are more supportive of issues in the trans community.

Jokingly referring to himself as transphobic throughout the special, Dave touched on Da Baby’s current fall-out with the LGBTQIA community citing how nobody batted an eye when he killed a man in Walmart (self-defense) yet the series of show cancellations and demands for public apologies ensued when he made very derogatory and hurtful remarks towards the Gay community while performing on stage recently.

Shining the spotlight on trans people, he talked about Caitlyn Jenner and how in her first year of being a women, was crowned woman of the year…
