Black Player Ejected From Game for Defending Himself
If “just accept the racism” was a school district
When kids are young and navigating the world, you can only hope they will grow into wholesome, responsible adults. Even with the best parenting that is just not always the case. Sometimes its them or peer-pressure or just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Even in doing the right thing sometimes can lead to the wrong consequences. No matter the case, its always refreshing when kids are willing to stand up against injustices and wrongdoing as it serves the reminder that they will one day be fully operating adults in the world and its important to speak up. See something, say something right?
Too bad that wasn’t the case in Utah.
Elias West, a Senior at Layton High School in Layton, Utah was ejected from a game because a ref heard him call another student the N-word. Elias, a black student had been tackled on the turf and was waiting at the bottom of the pile for the other players to get off of him. One player, still standing over him told him to “stay down, you N***er,” which prompted Elias to get up and defend himself, telling the player “don’t call me a fu**ing N***er.” The ref only heard Elias’ rebuttal and ejected him from the game while the other player continued playing.
